Our research

The Semiconductor Microstructure Simulation Lab. (SMSL) led by Prof. Yongwoo Kwon belongs to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Hongik University located in Seoul, South Korea. Our central topic is the computational modeling of microstructure-related problems occurring in the processing and switching operation of  semiconductor devices. More specifically, we currently have research funds for the device simulation of phase-change and resistive memories by solving electrothermal and phase-change equations, and the process simulation of thin film growth and annealing for 3D devices by phase-field modeling. We use commercial softwares, such as Comsol Multiphysics, Synopsys TCAD, MATLAB, etc, and also develop our in-house simulation codes using C++, Fortran, etc. We are always open to collaborating with both experimental and computational researchers.
